Super Bowl-spiration

It's been awhile since Mr. Cool and I have thrown a party, so I'm excited that we've been given the chance to host the Super Bowl for our crew in two weeks. We're thrilled to have everyone come to our apartment in San Francisco to watch our beloved 49ers demolish the Baltimore Ravens in the Quest for Six. Ordinarily, I don't really care about the Super Bowl and am just in it for the commercials. That said, I'm a huge fair-weather fan, and this has been a pretty tremendous year for San Francisco sports!

While I've invited our friends to contribute buffalo wings, spinach-artichoke dip and other Super Bowl necessities, I'm determined to stick to a somewhat healthy menu for the event. At the moment, I'm envisioning a feast of vegan chili, black bean and brown rice sliders and sweet potato fries with spicy ketchup. Of course, no party is complete without plenty of booze! In addition to an assortment of beers, I'm thinking that cherry beer margaritas will fit the bill. Fingers crossed that the red and gold straws I ordered from etsy will make it here on time!

What are your Super Bowl plans this year?

  1. Great ideas! We're having my BIL and his wife over to watch the game, so I need to start thinking about snack planning too!

  2. Oh, so fun! I like the commercials too, lol. I don't know if you have a molly stones or equivalent fancy grocery store around, but they have a really tasty german curry ketchup that I like to pair with sweet potato fries.

  3. Sounds like a great menu! I'm not a huge football fan, but I am looking forward to watching a bit of it this year, since the teams are from nearby Baltimore and my home state. My husband will be working, though, so no party plans for us!
