Weekend in Review, Vol. 81

This past weekend started out on a high note and ended on a low one. I worked most of the day on Sunday, and having to give up half of my weekends is really starting to get old. It's difficult to start the work-week on a positive note when I can't go into it refreshed and recharged. Today, I'm hoping to get through it by focusing on the positives from the past two days.

On Friday night, Mr. Cool and I attended this show at SF Sketchfest, which started this past Thursday in the city. Mr. Cool really enjoys sketch comedy, so it was fun to head out to the Mission together to take in this event. We ended the night with scoops of Orange Cardamom and Thai Chili Lime sorbet from Humphry Slocombe. The Thai Chili Lime was so delicious, I am going to try and recreate it at home one of these days.

On Saturday, we headed to the East Bay to see my mom. Mr. Cool continued onto Lodi to visit a friend, while my mom and I attended a bridal shower thrown in honor of my cousin's fiancee. Sunday was spent sifting through a banker's box full of documents for a new case that my firm just inherited. It took the entire day and I had a meltdown around 7:30 p.m. Here's hoping my workload is lightened this week as a result of the work I put in yesterday!

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend!

  1. Ouch, that work load is pretty atrocious looking and I hope your work week is a little lighter because of your weekend work.
Thank you for your sweet words dear and do share if you recreate the Thai chili sorbet!

  3. Ugh, I am so sorry that you lost a full day of your weekend to work. While I understand that the occasional weekend day here and there is perhaps unavoidable when there's a dire emergency, I also think it's very unfair that so many companies today expect employees to constantly be on-call during their personal time. No wonder so many people are stressed out and overworked in this world!

  4. I know the feeling all too well. The last two weekends I've taken work home on weekends and put it off until Sunday night where I end up working until 10-11ish. Hopefully this will be a productive week. I love those adorable cookies and the towel assembled into a cake gift.
